In the past, having a baby was much easier. Today, new lifestyle provides new possibilities, so human reproducing got them too! There are many new solutions that should improve conceiving, and some can even allow you to choose the gender of your child. All this can cause a lot of confusion about infertility and its treatments.
The biggest myth, about infertility is that there is only one treatment. According to the Dr. Manuel Muñoz of IVI Fertility Clinic, there are several treatments that can assist fertility. The most known treatments are artificial insemination. In these treatments, sperm is placed directly into the woman’s womb, in IVF (in vitro fertilization), sperm and egg can be fertilized outside the woman’s body and egg donation, where the donated egg is fertilized by sperm before it is implanted into a woman’s womb. These are completely different treatments than egg freezing. In this treatment, woman’s egg is extracted and stored, for future use. Elderly women, who want to preserve their fertility for future use this treatment.
The second myth is, that women are always responsible for infertility. Actually, 30% of infertility problems are caused by men, another 30% are caused by women and the rest of 40% are caused as combined problems or due to unexplained causes! The most common men’s infertility problems are caused by: ejaculation problems, alterations in the semen and prostate pathologies.
The next thing you must know, that sperm and egg donors, can try to locate the child, which was ‘’produced’’ using their embryo. They can do this only when that child is 18 years old or older. For this reason, many couples from the UK are going to Spain, because there egg and sperm donors are anonymous.
